She was 84, a native of St. Gabriel and resident of Ventress. She was a retired schoolteacher. Visiting at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Roads, 9 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by Father Miles Walsh. Burial in church cemetery. Survived by husband of 57 years, Sidney Miller; three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha M. and Sidney Stoute, Ventress, Marie Louise "Weze" and Mike Carriere, Baton Rouge, and Bess and Nathan Vidrine, New Roads; a son and daughter- in-law, Sidney and Joyce Miller, Lockport; two brothers, Roland Becnel and Alvin Chabaud, both of St. Gabriel; grandchildren, Melba Aguillard, Pauline Melvin, Tracey Salter, Leo Stoute, Allison Harris, Missy Michiels, Michael Carriere, Steve Miller, Becky Brown, Michael Miller, Jessica Horning, Josh Miller, Janet Miller, Joey Miller, Dominique Vidrine, Matthew Vidrine and Paul Vidrine; and great-grandchildren, John Guerin, Corey Salter, Randi Bonvillian, Amber and Hallie Aguillard. Preceded in death by parents, Edmond and Louise Perilloux Becnel; sisters, Alice B. LeBlanc, Claire B. Hebert and Louise B. Marix; and brothers, Edmond Becnel Jr., Msgr. Daniel Becnel and Roger Becnel. Pallbearers will be Steve Miller, Michael Miller, Josh Miller, Leo Stoute, Michael Carriere and Barry Janis. Honorary pallbearers are nephews. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, a member of St. Mary's Altar's Society, AARP and Pointe Homemakers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Restoration Fund, American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
