He was 85, a native and resident of Ventress. He was a retired supervisor in the education profession. Visiting at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Roads, 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by Father Miles Walsh. Entombment in church mausoleum. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha M. and Sidney Stoute, Ventress, Marie Louise "Weze" and Mike Carriere, Baton Rouge, and Bess and Nathan Vidrine, New Roads; a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney Jr. and Joyce Miller, Lockport; a sister, Bernice Haydel, Ventress; 17 grandchildren, Melba Aguillard, Pauline Melvin, Tracy Salter, Leo Stoute, Allison Harris, Missy Michiels, Michael Carriere II, Steve Miller, Becky Brown, Michael Miller, Jessica Miller, Josh Miller, Janet Miller, Joey Miller, Dominique Vidrine, Matthew Vidrine and Paul Vidrine; and six great-grandchildren, John Guerin, Corey Salter, Randi Bonvillian, Amber and Hallie Aguillard and Cade Brown. Preceded in death by wife, Martha Becnel Miller; parents, Leo and Marie Major Miller; a sister, Mildred Janis; and a brother, Leonard Miller Sr. Pallbearers will be grandsons and a godchild, Barry Janis. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and A.A.R.P. and lifelong member of N.E.A. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Restoration Fund, St. Mary's Adoration Chapel, American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
