Born in 1847, his gravesite shows 1849-1907 with Tine on his footstone in Oakhill Cemetery, Allen Parish, La. But Tine, himself, was an interesting character according to family stories and talked of even now, by the oldsters still living. Tine and Dew Buxton (rumor says halfbrothers or kin) came to Bay, Louisiana from north of Bay, which became Dunnsville and is now Oakdale, Allen Parish, Louisiana. Tine had a farm north- northwest of Oakdale, on which Indians helped him. Tine was an industrious man and many stories have come from that. Many oldsters still claim that Tine as born in Virginia and traveled by wagon when an infant with his parents to the Louisiana Badlands in late 1840s; and there has been to date nothing to prove or disprove this story, family tradition. Whoever Tine's parents prove to be, Tine was one of the earlier settlers near Oakdale, one who with many descendants occupy Oakhill Cemetery west of Oakdale off La hwy 10 aka Choctaw hwy. Tine was married twice and had 14 children. He married first Sophie Strother, daughter of Frank Strother & Mary Willis, 6-12-1872 Alexandria in Rapides Parish #210.
