Cleveland Fruge'. ------------------------------- A.M. D'Angelo, Judge, 9th Judicial District Court, Division "C" was elected District Judge on November 8th, 1966. He held the position of Special Assistant Attorney General of Louisiana in 1948, and First Assistant District Attorney of Rapides Parish from 1952 to 1957 and again from 1960 to 1964. He received his B.A. degree in 1935 and his L.L.B. Degree in 1937 from Tulane University and in 1969 he received the Juris Doctor Degree from the same university. He served in the Field Artillery for four years during World War II and after V-J Day was assigned duties as a War Crimes prosecutor attached to General MacArthur's Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Upon completion of this latter assignment he received a commendation from the Military Commission which presided over the war crimes trails. He is a member of the American Judicature Society, American Bar Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Louisiana Law Institute, Continuous Revision Advisory Committee for the Code of Criminal Procedure, Louisiana State Bar Association Formulary Committee, American Bar Association's Section of Judicial Administration, National Conference of State Trial Judges, and the Louisiana State Bar Association Committee on Fair Trial and Free Press. He is a past President of the following organizations: Alexandria Bar Association, Louisiana Assistant District Attorneys Association, Young Men's Business Club, Amicus Club, Amerita Club, Louisiana Federation of Young Men's Clubs, and Cenla Legal Aid Society. He is a co-author of the Louisiana Criminal Formulary Annotated (Bobbs-Merrill Company, publisher) sponsored by the Louisiana State Bar Association. During his tenure as President of the Alexandria Bar Association in 1965, the latter received the Award of Merit from the Louisiana State Bar Association for outstanding achievements in the field of local Bar activities. Judge D'Angelo was born on January 16th, 1912 in Alexandria, Louisiana. He is married to the former Thelma Boudra and they have one child, Joseph M. D'Angelo, M.D., now serving in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Navy. * * *
