Guy Earl Humphries, Jr., Judge, Ninth Judicial District, Division "B", was
born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 11, 1923.  He was the second child and
oldest boy of six children born to Guy E. Humphries and Hattie A. Sheppard. 
Both parents are deceased.  His parents lived in and around Delhi, Richland
Parish.  Judge Humphries' paternal ascendants are relatively new-comers to
this country.  His great-grandfather came from Belfast, Ireland, at the age of
18.

He is married to Virginia Davis and they have three children: Guy Earl, III,
born September 29, 1950; Richard D., born June 28, 1955; Ann, born September
3, 1962.

Judge Humphries was first sworn in on September 8, 1960.  He was appointed to
serve an unexpired term after having been elected to the full term.  He was
unopposed for his second term which expires December 1972.  He held no prior
or appointive offices.

Judge Humphries graduated from Tioga High School.  He obtained his pre-law
education at Louisiana College where he was a member of the debate team.  He
graduated from L.S.U. with a J.D. in January 1951.  He served as
Vice-President of the L.S.U. Law School in his senior year.  He was a member
of the winning team of his class' moot court competition.  Graduate National
College of State Trial Judges - 1970.

He is a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.  He is a 32nd Degree Mason,
a Shriner, Past District Deputy and Past Exalted Ruler of Alexandria Lodge of
B.P.O. Elks.

Judge Humphries served over three years in the United States Air Force with
over two of those in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

His hobbies are hunting, fishing and golf.
