March 27, 1887). Married Anna Slaughter  (b. May 29, 1820 d. March 24, 1876) on March 5, 1838 Both are buried at Amiable Baptist Church Cemetery near Glenmora, Louisiana There children were: Daniel H. Willis, Jr. born 1839, Eliza Willis born circa 1842, Mary Jane Willis born circa 1845, David Willis born circa 1846, Martha Willis born circa 1847, Matthew Willis born circa 1848, Dempsey Willis born 1853, Calvin Willis born circa 1855, and Robert Willis born in 1858. Rev. Joseph Willis' grandson Daniel Hubbard Willis, Sr., was the first of his many descendants to follow Joseph into the ministry. Daniel was called by W.E. Paxton's in A History of the Baptist of Louisiana, from the Earliest Times to the Present (1888)  "…one of the most respected ministers in the Louisiana Association." He established many churches himself and was blind in his later years. His daughter would read the scriptures and he would preach. He was pastor of Amiable and Spring Hill Baptist Churches for many years. He was my great-great-grandfather. He settled on Spring Creek near Glenmora at a community called Babb’s Bridge.
