Ball Cemetery, Rapides Parish Louisiana Submitted by Jane Parker McManus ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** BALL CEMETERY - Rapides Parish Directions: West from Alexandria on LA Hwy. 28, go 3.4 miles past Gardner and turn right on Miller Road and continue for 2.9 miles. Just past Hemphill Star Cemetery, turn left on Parker Road, go .7 mile and turn right on Ball Cemetery Road. Continue .5 miles on unimproved dirt road. When road is wet, it is safer to walk the half-mile distance to the cemetery. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded in rows beginning at the front gate by Mary Parker Partain, 1990, and submitted by Jane Parker McManus (mcmanus@linknet.net). To the right of a hurricane fence are the remains of a very old wire fence, probably the forerunner of the hurricane fence, a good net wire about 4 feet tall. More of the cemetery may have been inside this enclosure, however, there is only one visible grave in that area. A small cedar tree is growing next to the fence. The cemetery is well maintained. Before her death, local genealogist, Annie Parker, supplied additional information not on the markers, and that data is included in this listing within brackets. This information is submitted as a clue only, and should be verified before acceptance.
