Brewer (Moore) Cemetery - Rapides Parish

The Brewer (Moore) Cemetery is located near the town of Forest Hill.  Although
directions are a little complicated, all roads are well marked in this area. 
From US Hwy. 165 South out of Alexandria, turn left at the blinker light in
Forest Hill.  Cross the railroad tracks, and turn right immediately onto LA
Hwy. 497.  Continue for two blocks, turn left onto Blue Lake Road and go 1.0
miles.  Turn right onto Elwood Road and continue for .6 mile; turn right again
onto Brewer Cemetery Road (unimproved red-dirt road).  About half a mile down
this road is a fenced area, so overgrown with brush and trees that it easily
can be missed. The road is not always passable, but the cemetery can be
reached on foot quite easily.   The cemetery is about 50 feet by 70 feet, with
most of the marked graves near the front.  The remaining stones were once
beautiful, some were very large, but briars and small trees have covered the
area.  Tombstone inscriptions were recorded in the order approached by Mary
Parker Partain, May 1991, and submitted by Jane Parker McManus
