Dark Neal Cemetery (Owens Cemetey), Rapides Parish Louisiana Submitted by Jane Parker McManus ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Dark Neal Cemetery (Owens Cemetery) These two cemeteries are located in Rapides Parish in an area called Henderson Hill, 4.0 miles from the town of Boyce. The site of the Old Cotile Post Office which was established in 1816 by Francis Henderson was nearby. The cemeteries can be reached from LA Hwy. 8 by turning left on LA Hwy. 121 (Hot Wells Road) one mile North of Boyce. Continue on this road for 2.4 miles and turn right (at an angle) on a narrow blacktop road (there is no sign). After crossing Bayou Jean-de-Jean, continue for .2 miles up the hill to what is known locally as Red Store Hill. Turn right and the cemetery is located to the immediate right. A driveway divides the cemetery and tombstone inscriptions were recorded from the right front just inside the fence by Mary Parker Partain in May 1990. The Owens Section is to the left of the gate and was recorded last.
