Dorsett Cemetery, Rapides Parish Louisiana Submitted by Jane Parker McManus ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Directions: Go South from Alexandria on US Hwy. 167/71 for approximately 16.0 miles to the area called Lamourie. The Dorsett cemetery is located behind the first house on the left after crossing Bayou Beouf near the original locks. The small fenced area is currently owned and maintained by the Louis Smith family (1993), where permission must be obtained to enter the grounds. It is possible the Dorsett family has no descendents in the area as the Smiths stated that no one ever visits the little graveyard. All burials are in one row, parallel with the highway. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded by Mary Parker Partain, March 1993. Submitted 12 June 2000 by Jane P. McManus.
