Kitchens Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Rapides Parish Louisiana Submitted by Jane Parker McManus ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Directions: From Pineville, take US Hwy. 165 North to the town of Ball. Go 1.0 miles past the last signal-light in Ball to the cemetery that is located on the left behind Kitchens Creek Baptist Church. This well-maintained cemetery is fenced, and burials face the road. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded from the gate near the church, from the right in zigzag rows by Mary Parker Partain, December 1992, and updated 25 September 1996. Plaque on front of Church: "Founded 26 May 1889" In 1889, Mr. & Mrs. Hannibal Posey gave their old house to residents who lived in that area to be used as a church. In return, the community built them a new house on Kitchens Creek. The first minister was Rev. N. L. Robertson, and the first service was held in May 1889. The cemetery was first called Robertson because a Robertson baby was the first marked burial and the Robertson family was prominent in the community. Mike Robertson, the current caretaker and a descendent of the original Robertson family, indicated that there are a dozen or more unknown burials in the cemetery, marked by building blocks. Mr. Robertson has no information on the identity of these burials. Row 1: [right to left] Terrell, Lillie Robertson - 11 Jan 1908/2 Sep 1930 Wife of Luther C.
