WATKINS CEMETERY - RAPIDES PARISH

On Interstate I-49 North from Alexandria, take Exit #103 just north of the
town of Boyce.  Turn left onto LA Hwy. 8, and continue for 4.5 miles.  The
cemetery is not marked and cannot be seen from the road, but is just off LA
Hwy. 8, the last driveway on the left before the Campbell Creek Cemetery
Road.  The small cemetery is fenced, in good condition, well kept, under
large oak trees on a small knoll.  

The tombstone inscriptions were recorded by Mary Parker Partain, October
1989, and submitted by Jane Parker McManus on 20 January 2000.

Watkins, Frank J. Sr. - 12 Sep 1889 / 10 Jan 1968     Father
Watkins, Minnie M. - 11 Aug 1886 / 19 Jan 1934    Mother

Wise, Desire' DeRouin McLaughlin - born 1820   [only date on tombstone]
       [Note:  Desiree DeRouin married William Wise  ca mid 1847.  She was
the widow of Morin 
       McLaughlin.  Desiree was of French-Canadian descent, her father born
in Canada and owned and 
       lived on 80 acres of land near the town of Sharp (Rapides) LA.
William Wise & Desiree DeRouin 
       had 3 children:  Mary Armenda Wise - 23 Sep 1848 / 1 Mar 1924;
Catherine Wise - 26 Feb 1851 / 
       15 Jul 1938; and Desiree Wise - 15 Aug 1853 / 18 Oct 1931]
