Just BEFORE Belgard Bend Road, on right (North) side of the highway is a large metal building (in 1991, it was a boat repair shop). To the right of the building is a small fenced area which encloses the cemetery. At one time this was a very large cemetery; today there are only three markers remaining intact. The stones are just lying in the enclosure, obviously NOT where the actual graves are located. The cemetery covered several acres of land, and over the years, farmers plowed over it and around it, causing many graves to be lost. Several years ago, a local resident, Mrs. Chilton, enclosed the area with a hurricane fence, approximately 8 x 12 feet. There are many pieces of broken stone lying on the ground inside the enclosure. When local farmers plow over a piece of stone, they apparently throw it over the fence into the cemetery. The tombstone inscriptions were recorded by Mary Parker Partain, June 1990, and submitted by Jane Parker McManus on 20 January 2000.
