Case of State vs. Bashaw Pembroke, charged with tresspass, was called and submitted to jury, who brought in a verdict of guilty as charged. Next called was State vs. Abram Madison, charged with carrrying concealed weapons. Verdict of jury, not guilty. State vs. Andrew Jackson charged with carrying concealed weapons. Not guilty. State vs. Abram Madison, charged with carrying fire arms on premises of Jno. Barrett without permission. Verdict of jury returned and sentenced to parish jail for the period of ten days and costs of court. Court adjourned to meet Friday, the 9th ins., at 9:30 a.m. 10 Jan 1885 District Corut, ordinary term, opened up at this place Monday, His Honor, Judge Blackman presiding. J.T. Yawn, charged with carrying concealed weapons, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 35 days in the parish jail. The following cases sere set for trial Tuesday. State vs. Robert Whittington, charged with carrying concealed weapons. State vs. Louis Hughes and I. Bradley, charged with larceny. State vs. A.A. Goodwin, charged wtih tresspass. State vs. A.A. Goodwin, sending letter. State vs. Basha Pembroke, charged with tresspass. State vs. Steve Barrett, charged with carrying concealed weapons. State vs. Moses Murphy, charged with larceny. State vs. Thos. Clements, charged with carrying concealed weapon State vs. Jno. P. Clements, Jr., charged with carrying concealed weapon. The following cases were set for Wednesday: A.E. Watson charted with carrying concealed weapons. State vs. Peter Paul, charged with larceny. State vs. Abram Madison et al, charged wiht carrying fire arms on private property. State vs. Abram Madison, charged with carrying concealed weapons. State vs. Andrew Jackson, alias Lee, two charges of carrying concealed weapons. The cases set for yesterday, Thursday being a legal holiday, were State vs. Chas. Armstrong, three charges of selling liquor without license. State vs. Jerry Bush charged with larceny. State vs. P.C. Peters charged with malicous threats. State vs. P.C. Peters charged with attempt to blackmail. State vs. S.D. Williams charged with carrying concealed weapons. State vs. W.W. Wilbanks charged with carrying concealed weapons. The following cases were set for to-day: State vs. Montfort Wells charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill. State vs. Dennis McMannis charged with assault with dangerous weapon. State vs. Jacob Irving, Senior and Junior, charged with larceny. State vs. E.J. Sullivan charged with carrying concealed weapons. State vs. Robert Smith charged with larceny. 17 Jan 1885 District court is still in session, His Honor, Judge Blackman presiding. The case of Ed. Hopkins vs. E.J. Barrett was taking up the time of the court Wednesday afternoon. District Court met 9th inst., as per adjournment, His Honor, Judge Blackman presiding. The case of the State vs. Chas. Armstrong was called and entered into. He was charged with selling liquor without a license. The jury brought in a verdict of guilty, and the Court sentenced Armstrong to pay $100 fine and costs. There were two other cases against Mr. Armstrong, of same nature, which were nolle prosequied. State vs. Jerry Bush, charged with larceny, continued. State vs. P.C. Peters, charged with attempt at blackmail and malicious threats, continued. State vs. S.D. Wilbanks and W.W. Wilbanks, charged with carrying concealed weapons, nolle pros. entered. District Court met last Saturday as per adjournment, His Honor, Judge Blackman, presiding: The case of the State vs. Robert Smith (col.) was called and trial entered into. The jury brought in a verdict of guilty as charged in the indictment which was for stealing a watch. He was sentenced to 14 months in the penitentiary. The case of the State vs. Wm. Johnston, a colored boy, was called, pleaded guilty to stealing 15 cents, and was sentenced to 15 days in jail. The case of the State vs. Dennis McManus, charged with assault with dangerous weapon, pleaded guilty, and was fined $5 and costs of court. The $1000 bond furnished by Jas. Smith, accused of arson, was decided forfeited by the court. B. Turner and B.C. Duke were the securities. The case of the State vs. A.E. Watson charged with carrying concealed weapons, was continued, on account of absence of witnesses. The case of the State vs. E.J. Sullivan, charged with carrying concealed weapons, was continued on account of absence of witnesses for defense. The case of the State vs. Steve Barrett, accused of carrying concealed weapons, was continued on account of absence of witnesses for defense.
