Army Personnel 2nd Lt. T. J. Murphy, Jr.; commanding 2nd Lt. Ralph S. Leblanc; Mess Officer In the organization of the Civilian Conservation Corps in May of 1933, the District Supply Company was first called together. It was composed of fifty able enrollees who were destined to play an important part throughout the entire life of the organization. These men were picked for sturdiness and technical ability. They were charged with the tasks of making preparations to enroll and prepare the members for the field camps. Each man had a specific duty. There were clerks, typists, messengers, operators and various posts of duty that had to be filled by these capable and efficient men. At first, all of their work was directed and supervised by regular Army officers. Harmony and co-operation were the keywords. The official establishment of the Supply company was not completed until July 18, 1933. Joseph E. James, Jr., Second Lieutenant, 22nd Infantry, was the first to assume the responsibility of Commanding Officer. As the duties increase, so did the members. Its services were required for other duties, and he was replaced by Jesse S. Hoffpauir. First Lieutenant, Q.M Reserve. Lieutenant Hoffpauir proved his efficiency as a Company commander very early. He was admired by all members of the company, and it was regretted when Lt. Hoffpauir was relieved of command to devote his entire time to the Quartermaster's Office. Walter D. Cailleteau, Second Lieutenant, Infantry-Reserved, next assumed command, and under his able leadership, the Supply company continued in its efficiency. Lt. Cailleteau's stern characteristics were seasoned with kindness, consideration and thoughtfulness for the members under his command. A the termination of his tour of duty he was relieved by Jefferson Z. Amacker, Captain, infantry-Reserve, whose personality was soon radiated to all the members of the Company. The company by this time had increased to more than 130 members. Captain Amacker's services were in demand as Commanding Officer of a field Company, and thus the Supply company lost this able leader to the Bogalusa Camp. The members of the Supply Company soon learned that the exchange of Commanding Officers was fortunately a mere exchange of friends, as Louis B. Magid, Jr., First Lieutenant, 326th Infantry, who relieved Captain Amacker, had the interest of the members at heart, and the same efficiency that the Supply Company had always known continued. At the termination of Lt. Magid's tour of duty, Chester A. Peyronnin, First Lieutenant CASC, Beauregard, assumed command. Lt. Peyronnin proved to be an able leader, and successfully guided the Company throughout his tour of duty. Lt. Peyronnin was assigned as Commander of a field company and was relieved of his duties as Commander of the Supply Company by Thomas J. Murphy, Jr. Second Lieutenant, 346 Omfamtru-Reserve. Lt. Murphy did much to improve all conditions in the Supply Company. In addition to Lt. Murphy, the Supply company is served by Ralph S. LeBlanc, Second Lieutenant, 348th Inf.
