This picture was taken in 1948 or 1949 at Shady Nook, just north of McNary, Louisiana. Grandmaw Jane was celebrating her birthday with family and friends.She looked forward to her birthday celebrations.Louisiana Jane Walker was born 1855 in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. In 1872 she married Jeremiah (Jerre) Duplissey. They moved to Lloyd's Bridge,Louisiana and lived there a few years. Then moved to Lonepine in Evangeline parish and lived there a long time.Her husband died in 1917. In 1943 Jane moved with her son to live near Glenmora in Rapides parish. She died in 1950 and is buried in the Butter Cemetery near Forest Hill, Louisiana. Additional Comments: Shady Nook was a large recreation area on Spring Creek. Had a large swimming area, picnic area, skating rink, dance hall, bowling, store,and barber shop. It was a real popular place in 1940's and early 1950's.
