Alexandria, Jan. 21, '84 The Parish Board of School Directors met pursuant to special call: Present: B. Turner, President; Jonas Rosenthal, J.J. Ferguson, Chas. Owen. Absent: E.W. Laird, J.A. Cruikshank, Sam Blum. The following schools will be opened on the 1st of February, and continue for three months from that date. The location of said schools and appointment of teachers is as follows, to wit: Alexandria; white and colored schools. Same teachers as last session. Pineville; white and colored schools. Same teachers as last session. Pineville; white school, O.F. Hudley, teacher. Pineville; colored school, C.L. Roberts, teacher. Loyds; white school, Miss Ella Foster, teacher. Lecomte; colored school, H. Tarver, teacher. Bayou Rapides; white school, T. Spence Smith, teacher. Bayou Rapides; colored school, U. Tarver, teacher. Lamothe's Bridge; white school, Miss D. Lewis, teacher. Cotile; colored school, Thomas D. Webster, teacher. Tramway; white school, B.F. Scott, teacher. Hammock; white school, J.T. Blackwell, teacher. Lairds; white school, C.M. Carruth, teacher. Lower Spring Creek; white school, R.H. Dabney, teacher. Hineston; white school, same teacher as last session. Calcassieu Ward; white school, Solomon Knapp, teacher. Bayou Flagon; Morgans white school, teacher to be appointed. Beaver Creek; Heads white school, M.L. Bryant, teacher. Bay Spring; white school, Dan. Roberts, teacher. Teachers are required to call at the office of the Secretary of School Board, in Alexandria, and procure blanks for Monthly Reports, and are hereby instructed to send in their reports promptly at the end of each month. Holloways Prairie, teacher Miss Watkins of Pineville. Ten Mile, Mercer School House, Spring Hill and Randolph, teachers to be appointed. Flaggon, colored, John Whye. Mount Zion, colored, teacher to be appointed. The amoungt necessary to bear the expense for Schools appointed, is $1,355 per month. The teachers not examined yesterday, are required to be in Alexandria on Saturday, the 21st inst. and appear before the Examining Board.
