MOORLAND

Moorland is the name given to the railroad depot below Alexandria.  The store
of Weems & Hayes and the large brick building, known at the sugar mill, point
out the place as one of trade.  Here the true introduction to the sugar
plantations is made, for large fields of cane and several sugar mills tell the
traveler from the north that he is entering the richest sugar country in the
world.
