Mrs. Annie Bass, Widow's Application for Pension Rapides Parish Louisiana Submitted by Chere Lee Date: March 30, 2012 ************************************************** Copyright. JUDGE A.C. ALLEN, PRESIDENT FRANKLIN, LA. E.F. BRIAN, SECRETARY BATON ROUGE, LA. BATON ROUGE, LA., July 12th 1915. Mr E.E. Galligan Forest Hill La. Dear Sir. Replying to your letter of the ---- I beg to say that if I appeared to be ugly in my letter of the8th, [sic] I beg pardon, for I did not intend to be, and I will add, that I shall hold matters up in the case of Anna Bass. It still looks queer to me, that a Justice of the Peace would be having mail placed at his disposal when the party addressed was no where in the neighborhood. It was Calvit's name to the application that gave me such confidence in the claim. I always felt sure of the claim that had his name to the papers for I viewed him as an honorable gentleman, and I have not changed that view. Looking at the matter as I do now, I shall refer all papers to the Boar before any more pension is sent out from this office. Very respectfully. Secy.
