JUDGE A.C. ALLEN, PRESIDENT FRANKLIN, LA. E.F. BRIAN, SECRETARY BATON ROUGE, LA. BATON ROUGE, LA., July 8th 1915 Mr E.E. Galligan Forest Hill. Dear Sir. In regard to the "who is she" of Mrs Annie Bass, she has been getting her pension letters at Forest hill since September 1912, and it certainly looks strange to me that the Post Master at Forest Hill who has been delivering these letters nearly three years, would have found out by this time who the pensioners was by this time. Certainly he should know if he desired to. Mrs Anna Hass [sic] claimed her letter containing voucher at the Forest Hill Post Office about the first of this month, and on the third I mailed her a letter containing check. Now I shall mail her the quarter ending September 30th next as usual, if your friends Merchant and Graham want to do some detective work they will have the opportunity on the 29th of Next September when I shall mail the regular allowances to all pensioners then on the roll, they can watch the Post Office and see who claims the Anna Bass letter and if anything is wrong they can report at once by a challenge of the party who takes the mail. The Bass claim for pension was made before W.J. Calvit when he was Clerk of the Court of Rapides and has the best kind of papers with it and they are now on file and may be seen by any one interested in knowing the whys and whwerfores [sic] in case, Her number is 6947 and you will know the letter as soon as you see it because it has the office card and the number on it everytime. If you and your friends think there is something wrong, just go at it and challenge and I will accept service and place the matter before the Board. I cannot stop ending the pension as long as the matter stands as it is, Very respectfully.
