BUTTER - On Tuesday morning, July 17, 1923, at 10 o'clock, the Angel of Death silently entered the home of Mr. J.H. Butter, near Forest Hill, La., and claimed for its victim his sister, Miss Ellen V. Butter, "Aunt Ellen," as she was known to all, was a daughter of J.H. and S.E. Butter, who have gone on before to meet their Savior. Aunt Ellen had attained the age of 66 years, three months and 26 days. She united with the Baptist church in her girlhood days, and has since lived a devoted Christian life. She leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters and one brother, besides a host of relatives and friends. Aunt Ellen was loved by all who knew her. She had been in had [sic] health for several months, but bore her suffering with patience. She always had a cheerful greeting for all. Her gentleness of manner and kind disposition won her the friendship of all who knew her, and the memory of her unselfish devotion to family and friends will always linger to cheer them in their sad hour of affliction. It seems like a dream that she has gone from us to Him, never to return, and in the midst of these sad hours we can but remember He doeth all things well; and may her pure life prove the beacon light which will light our pathway to that beautiful city above, where pain and sorrow will be no more. On the morning of the 18th of July, 1923, mid a sorrowful gathering of friends and relatives the remains were laid to rest in the Butters' cemetery near her home. Many and beautiful were the floral offerings. We now have a new treasure in heaven, and because this is true, this happy place, wherever it may be, is today dearer to us than ever it was before. Rocks and storms she fears no more, While on this eternal shore. Drop the anchors, furl the sail - She is safe within the veil.
