Burial will follow at Campbell Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria. The family asks that visitation be observed from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Muriel Hilger Age 95, of Zimmerman and formerly of Simpson, passed away peacefully and delivered into our Lords hands on August 9, 2013 in her home. She was born Clara Muriel Parker in Simpson, Louisiana on October 28, 1917. The family later moved to Taylor Hill. Her first husband and she later purchased the old Zimmerman Saw mill town where she continued to live out the rest of her life. Muriel is affectionately known to her family and friends as “MaTid”. She was a gorgeous, loving woman, with a sharp wit and a warm heart. She was a peacemaker, believing that there was good in everybody. She had great empathy for the feelings of others and was mindful of the effect that her words and deeds might have on them. She was a wonderful role model, always acting with dignity and wisdom. Muriel was active in many church and benevolent organizations, a member of Sharp Church of God. Muriel logged thirty years as a volunteer with the Senior Corps of Rapides Council on Aging and was a columnist for The Senior News paper for many years. Her passion in life was her hobby of capturing history with her picture albums and scrapbooks. Muriel is preceded in death by her father, Arthur; Mother, Bulah Jackson Parker; Brothers, Miles Parker, Jason Parker; Sisters, Erma Jameson, Shirley Tippitt; her husbands, William “Tid” Hilger and Dewy Phillips; son, William “Bill” Hilger, and grandson -in-law Joseph Lodridge. She is survived by her son, Amel (Sandra) Hilger of Lena; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Beebe Hilger of Pasadena TX.; sisters, Lura (Don) Larkin of St. Marie Idaho, Mary Parker of Gardner; grandchildren, Jimmy (Connie) Hilger of Zimmerman, Jill (Woody) Wood of Lena, Mickey (Cindy) Hilger of Zimmerman, Brandt Hilger of Cotile, Amel Hilger Lodridge of Zimmerman, Chad Hilger of Pasadena TX., “Grandson” Bob Lodridge of Flatwoods, great- grandchildren, Courtney Gaspard (Garon), Tid Hilger, Kayla Hilger, Taylor Hilger, Sandra Wood, Jaime Lodridge, Amel A. Lodridge, Summer Johnson; one great-great-grandchild, Kipton James Gaspard, and a large extended host of nieces and nephews, the relationships with whom she cherished greatly. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jimmy Hilger, Mickey Hilger, Brandt Hilger, Chad Hilger and her great-grandsons, Tid Hilger, and Taylor Hilger. Honorary pallbearer will be Amel A. Lodridge Our family wants to give a special "Thank you" to Synergy Home Care staff, HPOC Hospice staff who took such special care of her and to her long-time companion and loving niece Jeannie Frazair, sitter and long time friend Billie Watkins they brightened her days when we could not be with her.
