NEDROLOGICAL.

NEWELL.-Miss Martha A. Newell, aged 84 ears, died at her 
residence near Pineville, La., at 11:30 o'clock, on Monday night,
Dec. 13th, 1897. The deceased was a native of Kentucky, but 
emigrated to Rapides parish when very young and had resided here 
all her life. She was a sister of John A. Newell, an old and 
esteemed citizen, who preceded her to the grave about a year ago.

Her remains were interred in Newell cemetery at Holloway's 
Prairie the next day.
