Mysterious Death - Glenmora Rapides Parish Sheriff' Detectives are investigating the Saturday evening death of a 75-year old Glenmora man. The Rapides Parish Coroner's Office told detectives Monday that the victim, Aubrey Washington Howard, died a natural death outside his residence located on East River Road. However, While the coroner said the death was more than likely a heart attack, it was still unclear as to what might have caused the fatal attack, Sheriff' Detective Robert Melder said. Melder said Howard had been working in his yard trying to remove a stump with a chain and an electric drill when the incident occurred. A family member found Howard around 7:30 pm. Saturday behind his residence's back porch. Hustmyre, Sr, 79, pioneer Alexandria businessman, died suddenly of a heart attach at 9:30 am Wednesday in a Baton Rouge hospital. Hustmyre was a member of one of the old families of Alexandria and a lifelong resident. His parents were W. I. Hustmyre, Sr and Caroline Rexer Hustmyre. He was married to the former Sabina Barrett. He owned and operated the Hustmyre Flour and Feed Co, an in recent years was connected with Kambach-Burkett Co of Shreveport. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Throughout his life he was active in church and civic affairs. Hustmyre is survived by one son Charles A. Hustmyre, Jr Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs. Emmett S. Johnson, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. William Lobdell, Syuracuse NY, one brother W. I. The funeral took place this morning at 10 O'clock leaving the family residence a that hour and proceeding to St. Francis Xavier's Catholic Church of which the deceased was a devoted member. The services were conducted by the Rev. Father Menard. Interment was made in Rapides Cemetery, Pineville. Mrs. Hustmyre leaves five children all of whom were here to attend the funeral. They are: Frank Hustmyre of Minden, La, Mrs. J. E. Dugger of Natchitoches, Messrs Will, Fred and Charles Hustmyre of this city. There were two sons and one daughter who died several years ago. William Hustmyre, the husband of the deceased, died in this city 3 September 1883. The sisters of the deceased are Mrs. Cecelia Scheu, who resided with her and Mrs. Kate McClusky of Galveston. Her only brother was the late William Rexer. She also leaves ten grandchildren. Mrs. Hustmyre was born in the house corner of Fifth and St James Streets, now occupied by Mrs. Rexer. She had been residing in the present family residence on upper second street for thirty one years. She was confined to her bed since Dec 26th at which time she went to receive medical attention.
