She graduated from Southern University with a bachelor degree and from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, with her masters degree and a doctorate in education. She was a professor at Grambling State University, retiring in 1976. While at Grambling, she was instrumental in writing proposals which resulted in funding by the Federal Government to Grambling. During her career, she was selected for membership on President Johnson's National Advisory Commission on Rural Poverty which resulted in the publication of "The People Left Behind" and other publications. She served as Visiting/Adjunct Professor at Portland State University, Oregon, University of Miami, Tuskegee Institute, Atlanta University, Lincoln University, Mo., and Kansas State University, Manhattan. After retiring, she served as a Teacher Corps Program Development Specialist and was an active member of St. Benedict Church.
