She was employed as a domestic technician and was an active member of the Eastern Star, New Orleans Chapter 34. She also volunteered over 25 years of service to the Louisiana Department of Veteran's Affairs, donating over 5,000 hours of service. She attended Beecher Memorial Church of New Orleans and served as a missionary worker. Swords Lee Of Alexandria Dead The people of Winnfield were shocked on Wednesday to learn of the death of Colonel Stephen R. Lee, better known as "Swords" Lee, at his home in Alexandria Wednesday morning. Colonel Lee has been for many years a well known figure in this section. A native of Mississippi, he came to Louisiana when but a lad, with his parents, who settled in Grant Parish, and where after receiving his education in the public schools, he taught school for some years. He was appointed by Gov. Foster to be assessor of Grant Parish, was later elected member of the state legislature, and for many years was President and General Manager of the Lee Lumber Company which operated the large mill at Tioga. He has been for years prominent in political affairs in the state, and was well known in all political and civic affairs in the state, and was well known in all political and civic affairs. He has resided in Alexandria since 1898. Colonel Lee leaves a number of relatives to mourn his passing, among them being Mrs. Leonard Smith, of Winnfield, a sister, and Albert Smith and Houston Smith, who are nephews. A large number of Winnfield citizens attended the funeral in Alexandria Thursday, which was held at the First Methodist Church there by Dr. Holmes, pastor, assisted by Dr. DeVane, of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
