His record is blotted with no intention of wrongs against his fellow man. He not only enjoyed the warm affection of loved ones at home, but he was the object of appreciation by an entire public. In his last hours he suffered much without impatience or complaint. He professed faith in the Lord Jesus, and declared himself reconciled to die some weeks before his death. We laid him away within the earthen walls of that chamber to which we commit the most sacred, and most beloved interests of this life. There we must leave him, till we shall all come forth amid the celestial song of the eternal morning. In Pineville, on Tuesday evening Oct. 21, 1884, Mattie, eldest daughter of Charles Stucky and Agnes Graham aged five years. The funeral took place Wednesday at 11 o'clock. In Memoriam. As the closing of a dainty floweret that folds its soft, dewy petals over its heart, filled with sweetness, and withers away, - so passed away from her home on earth, to the beautiful home above. Little Mattie Stuckey, in the soft twilight of the evening of October 21st, 1884. Her life reminds us of the short sweet life of the flowers, which come to us in their beauty and fragrance, cheering us, but a little while, and they are gone. So this little one came to her home, bringing joy and gladness with the merry ripple of her childish laughter, the patter of her busy little feet, and various cunning ways. But like the flowers her stay was short and sweet. Dear little Mattie, the silent tear drops come unbidden, when I think that your baby face will be forever absent from the little class. We will miss you each Sabbath morn; you have gone from our little flock to join the angel throng. We extend to the bereaved parents our heartfelt sympathy, and would remind them that their darling is not dead, but awaiting their coming to the mansion of rest. It came-the soft voice-from the faraway land, That beautiful home of the blest, And our Mattie stretched forth her little white hands, And passed to the mansion of rest.
