He continued his baseball career with the Shreveport Sports from 1949-1953 when they captured the Texas League Crown and a Dixie Series Championship. He led the Houston Buffs to the Dixie Series Championship in 1954. Upon retirement he returned to Alexandria and, with his sons, operated Midwest Farms Distributors. He was the president of Menard Athletic Association from 1967-1968. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 8852, and St. Timothy Episcopal Church.
