Sophie Caroline Morgan Edwards Pipkin, 85, died at Presbyterian 
Hospital, in Dallas, TX. She was born and raised in Shreveport, the 
daughter of Erastus N. Edwards, Jr. of Shreveport and Ella Morgan Davis 
Edwards of Alexandria, LA. She was preceded in death by her devoted 
husband of 57 years, James Harrison Pipkin, Jr., her parents, and 
siblings, Zelda Anita, Alvin Sterling and Earl Hersey Edwards, Lillian 
Bell Smith and Ida Ethel Sublette. From Shreveport, Mrs. Pipkin became 
a resident of New York City for 33 years, before moving to Dallas where 
she resided until her death. Dearly loved and a devoted mother, she is 
survived by her daughters, Loretta Pipkin of Houston, Texas and Zelda 
P. Dunston of New York City, grandchildren, Gitiim and Matidi Chakamoi 
of Texas, Wendy L. Jones and Monica S. Logan of New York and Derrick 
Logan of New Jersey, 6 great-grandchildren, gr-great-grandchildren, 
sister, Ella Hawkins of Chicago, and a nephew and 4 nieces.

Mrs. Pipkin was buried on December 21 at Restland Cemetery, Court of 
Faith, in Dallas, TX, alongside her husband, James
