Watts, a gallant Confederate soldier and one of the leading men of Rapides parish, died at his home near Alexandria on Tuesday night at 8 o'clock, from a stroke of paralysis. Major Watts was a Westpointer, and a Southern gentleman of the old school, genial as sunshine, yet rigorous as a Stoic. He held several political positions in his parish, and numbered his friends by the score. The remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery in Opelousas Thursday morning, on the arrival of the morning train, beside those of his daughter, Mrs. E. B. Dubuisson. The Masons met the cortege and accompanied the corpse to its last resting place. Additional Comments: NOTE: Major George O. Watts is buried in section 13 of the Saint Landry Catholic Church cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. www.findagrave.com memorial # 33514637 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/rapides/obits/watts5998gob.txt
