He was born about 1850 in Melrose Texas and moved with his family to Rapides Parish LA during the Civil War. His father, Essex Preston Brasher, was killed by the Yankees there. W W ('Werty') later owned thousands of acres of timberland near Tioga, and donated land for the first school (Brasher school) on Washboard Road in that area. He was president of the school board, had a logging railroad, and a huge home (Brasher mansion) in that area. A gravel pit in now nearby. He is buried at Price Brasher cemetery in the property owned by Camp Beauegard. Lester Norman Waddell Jr (great grandson)
