State of Louisiana, Parish of St. Landry - This is to certify that I, Jacob
Richmond, Minister of the Gospel have this day, 29 day of December A.D. 1887 united
in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony, Mr. Valentine Buxton and Miss Polly Ann Johnson in
the presence of the undersigned witnesses. Witnesses: W.A. Richmond, Zeno (his X
mark) Markentill, S. Johnson. Parties: Valentine (his X mark) Buxton, Miss Polly Ann
(her X mark) Johnson.  Jacob S. Richmond, Minister of the Gospel.

No.14787 1/2 State of Louisiana - Parish of St. Landry. To any Minister of the
Gospel or Justice of the Peace of the Parish of St. Landry, Greetings. You are 
hereby authorized and empowered to unite in the bonds of matrimony according to law
and established rules, Mr. Valentine Buxton and Miss Polly Ann Johnson. And when you
shall have done so, that you make duplicate account thereof, signed by yourself and
three witnesses, as required by law, one of which return within thirty days to the
office of the Clerk of the Parish of St. Landry, together with this license. Given
under my hand and seal of office, as Clerk and for the Parish of St. Landry, the
17th day of December 1887. B.F. Mcguinley (spelling of last name, difficult to
read).
