Dated at Alexandria, the 24th day of December AD 1879 Whereas, a License has been this day issued by the Clerk of the District Court, in and for the Parish of Rapides, to unite in the Bond of Matrimony, the above bound Mr David M Bergen and Miss Sarah M E Smith. Now, therefore, the condition of the above obigation is such, that if there should exist no lawful impediment to this alliance, then the said obligation to be null and void, else to remain in full force and virtue. James H Rausdell, Clerk State of Louisiana, Parish of Rapides Be it Remembered, That on the 24th day of December 1879, Mr David M Bergen and Miss Sarah M E Smith, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for the Parish of Rapides together with Frank B Ford, Elisha Spears and Darius Neal all witneses of full age, and resident in the said Parish, and then and there the said Mr David M Bergen and Miss Sarah M E Smith, having produced the License required by law, signified their desire and intention, befre us the said Justice of the Peace and witnesses, to be united in the State of Matrimony. Whereupon, after due proclamation ade, and no impediment being suggested, they, the said Mr David M Bergen and Miss Sarah M E Smith by the Justice of the Peace, in th presence of said witnesses, Joined in Wedlock, according to the laws of the State of Louisiana, and by me the said Justice of the Peace duly pronounced to be Husband and Wife.
