Georgia. He was the youngest son of Lewis Davis and Catherine "Katie" Adkins. His family moved to Louisiana between 1860 and 1863. He was living with his parents in Natchitoches, now Red River , Parish, La. in early 1870. Later in 1870, Fan married Martha Annn Mobley. She was born in Louisiana on June 30, 1848, to Jesse and Martha Goff Mobley, born of whom were born in Alabama. Fan and Martha Ann were living in Claiborne Parish, La. in 1880 and his parents, Davis & Katy, who were both in their seventies, were living with them. They had probably oved to Claiborne to file suit against L.C.C. Adkins, Davis's brother, to try to get a portion of piety Adkins's estate. This was a very bitter court case creating bad feelings (to put it mildly) between the two groups of edkinses. Even though Davis was supposed to have won the case, he received only about one hundred dollars, and L.C.C. ended up with most of their mother's property when she died. Fan and Martha Ann had seven children whose names and birhtdates are as follows; Mary(5-18-1871); Davis Marion (10-22-1872) Benjamin L. (3-18-1876) Maggie H. (3-24-1879); W. Henry (5-28-1882); Ira; and Eli (9-5-1889) This family moved back to Red River Parish, in or near the town of Martin, during the Summer of 1893. The minutes of the Liberty Baptist Church in Martin., La., for July, 1893, state that "Bro. & Sister E.S. Adkins, son and daughter " were added to the Church "By Letter". They attended this Church until the Summer of 1897.
