He was captured at Rappahonnock, on Nov. 7, 1863 and released. He was again captured on Sept. 19, 1864 at Winchester, Va. He is buried in the Holley Springs Cemetery in Red River County. At age 26, when he enlisted as a Private in Company C, 9th La. Infantry, he listed his occupation as farmer. In later years, he owned a store in Red River. He lost a brother, WILLIAM H. COLLINS, at the Battle of Mansfield. His parents were GEORGE WASHINGTON COLLINS and ELIZABETH (LONG) COLLINS.
