R. ELLIOTT, farmer, aged 26 year, enlisted on the 6th of May, 1862 at Natchitoches in Capt. J. D. SHELLEY'S, Company B, 11th La. Infantry Battalion. He is described as a soldier with dark eyes, dark complexion and about five foot nine inches tall. He was born in 1838 in Anson County, N. C. He had attained the rank of 3rd Corporal, but he died of measles on Oct. 5, 1862 at Camp Delhi before he could see battle. He was one of the first to be buried in the churchyard at the Holly Springs Methodist Church. [JOHN W. R.
