M. T. ELLIOTT of Coushatta, Red River, enlisted on May 6, 1862 at CAPT. J. D. SHELLEY, and later under CAPT. S. P. DUBORO in the 11th Battalion, La. Volunteers. He was born in Anson County, North Carolina and was described as being five foot eleven inches tall with grey eyes, dark hair and dark complexion. He was captured April 25, 1863 at Grand Lake, La. and taken prisoner aboard the gunship "Queen of the West." He was paroled on May 11, 1863 at Port Hudson.
