COUSHATTA, LA., Sept. 16. – Last night about seven o’clock J.W. Harrison, agent for Twitchell, was shot in the back of his head and instantly killed in his store by an assassin from the outside through a window situated in rear of the store. Harrison’s sister, two white men in his employ and a number of negroes were in the store at the time. Dr. Merrill and Guthrie, Mayor Patton, the coroner and a posse went immediately to the scene. No clue to the murderer yet. Every effort will be made to ferret out the assassin. It is certain politics has nothing to do with it. NOTE: Further particulars of the Harrison murder can be found in the Friday, October 4, 1878 issue of the Ouachita Telegraph, Page 1, Column 5. # # #
