Suspicion then resting upon two brothers, George and Henry Nicholson, the authorities here being notified of the fact. Since that time additional particulars of the murder have been received, from which it is learned that the murder was committed upon the plantation of Col. F. Roubieau, eight miles below Coushatta, on June 24th, but the murdered man was not missed until some days afterwards, when his mule was offered for sale at Campte, by a man named Hutchins, who finally traded the animal off to a citizen of that place. The murdered man's good were also seen about the house of the Nicholsons, which caused the officers to make a search of the place, that resulting in the finding of nearly all of the missing man's property including his watch, the latter article having been traded off by Hinton. Warrants were at once issued for the arrest of the Nicholsons, Hinton and five women. Hinton was captured with the women, but the Nicholsons escaped to the swamp where, armed to the teeth, they defied arrest and baffled all efforts to capture or even to dislodge them until Wednesday last, when they were drugged by a Negro boy who carried them food. George Richardson, our informant says, died from the effects of the drug while in the swamp, and Henry sick and destitute had left the swamp and was making for the hills towards Bienville with a party in close pursuit. He was well armed however, and stated to the Negro boy that he would not be taken alive. Young's grave has been found and his remains exhumed and sent to the Jewish cemetery at Nachitoches for interment. The remaining prisoners, Hinton and the women, have been placed on trial and will, it is thought, be convicted, as the evidence is strong against them.
