DORIS LEWIS BROWN, 83, of Coushatta, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 1998, at the First Baptist Church in Coushatta with the REV. BENNY ALFORD, pastor, officiating. He was assisted by the REV. BILL HINES. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in Martin. MRS. BROWN passed away Jan. 16, 1998, in Coushatta. She was born in Opelousas, LA. She was retired from the Red River Parish Sheriff's Office. MRS. BROWN was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coushatta. She was preceded in death by her father, HARVIE LEWIS, mother, ELLA BERTHEAUD LEWIS, her husband, ERNEST MAE BROWN, and a sister, VERA LEWIS PRESCOTT. Survivors include two sons, LEWIS HUNTER BROWN and wife, CHARLOTTE of Coushatta, and JAMES ERNEST BROWN of Memphis, TN.; two daughters, WANDA BROWN SIMPSON of Coushatta, and SHERYL BROWN ROBINSON and husband WILLIE, of Coushatta; a step-mother, VIRGIE LEWIS of Coushatta; grandchildren, MICHAEL SIMPSON, TRUETT BROWN, HUNTER BROWN, JOEL BROWN, KELLI FORD and CHRIS BROWN, and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Honorary pallbearer was KIRWEN BROWN. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of the special friends at the Red River Council on Aging. Services were under the direction of the Rose Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta.
