  COUSHATTA, LA. -- Funeral services for WALTER MALONE BROWN, 83, of 
Coushatta, will be held in the Chapel of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, at 2 
p.m.  on Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996. Officiating will be BRO. OLAN McLAREN and BRO. 
NAPOLEON GREER. Interment willl be at Springville Cemetery.
  MR. BROWN passed away on Aug. 31, 1996, in Shreveport, LA. He was born in 
Coushatta on June 3, 1913. He was a Baptist.
  He was preceded in death by his wife, EULA LEE LOFTIN; one brother, ERNEST 
MAE BROWN.
  He is survived by one son, STANLEY M. BROWN, SR. of Coushatta; one daughter, 
MENA CLAIR SMITH and husband of Coushatta; two half-sisters, BLANCHE STEPHENS 
and KATHLEEN JACKSON, both of Coushatta; seven grandchildren, STEVE SMITH, 
CINCY McLAREN, LISA SMITH, GREG TAGLIARINO, JONNA DUPREE, CHARLIE J. SMITH, 
JR. and STANLEY M. BROWN, JR.; seven great grandchildren, COLT and JACI 
DUPREE, TORRI, CASSIE and EMILY McLAREN, ASHLIE SMITH and MEGAN NOEL BROWN.
