WILEY COLE officiating, assisted by REV. BENNY ALFORD. Interment will follow in Clear Springs Cemetery, Martin, under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home. He passed away following a brief illness on Aug. 2, 2002, in the Highland Hospital in Shreveport. Vistitation will begin Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home. MR. DUPREE, a lifelong resident of Red River Parish, was a self-employed buisinessman, making his living in a small grocery store, logging and later in the sand and gravel business. In early retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting and his vegetable garden. Later in retirement he enjoyed staying around the house and gardening. Through his life he set a Christian example through hard work and doing for others. He was a member and deacon of the Bethel Baptish Church. He was also past Worshipful Master of Holley Springs Lodge No. 247. Those who were fortunate enough to have know him, affectionately called him, "Daddy," "Papaw Pree", "Uncle Brit," or "MR. Britain". When you spent time with him you could not help but smile and be amazed at his stories of times gone by. We thank the Lord for giving him to us. He will be remembered and greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, DANIEL IVY DUPREE, JR. and GERTRUDE ORR DUPREE; daughters, SUE ANN DUPREE MORGAN, BENNIE DUPREE SEWELL; one granddaughter, LORI ELIZABETH DUPREE; three sons-in-law, EDWARD FORREST, HERMAN KILE and THERMAN SEWELL, six brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, NONA ADKINS DUPREE, seven sons, MERCER B. DUPREE, JR. and wife, CAROLYN, MELVIN "BUNTNEY" DUPREE, and wife, JOYCE; IVY B. DUPREE and wife, BARBARA, TERRY DUPREE and wife, JEANNIE, RANDALL "POGO" DUPREE and wife, FREDA, all of Coushatta, DAVID DUPREE and wife, PHYLLIS of Arkansas; four daughters, KATHLEEN DUPREE FORREST of Bossier, NITA JOY DUPREE of Sterlington, TRUDIE DUPREE ANDERSON and husband, WOSTER, of Coushatta, BETH DUPREEE HART and husband, BILL, of Ruston, and son-in-law, PHILLIP MORGAN of Shreveport. Other survivors include 31 gradchildren and great-great grandchildren, one brother, IVY D. DUPREE of Coushatta and one sister, VIRGINIA DUPREE POUNCY of Many. Pallbearers will be sons. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clear Springs Cemetery Fund, Bethel Baptist Church Prayer Garden, the United Community Christian Academy or to a charity of the donor's choice.
