Edwena was born December 11, 1925 in Red River Parish and passed from this life on November 22, 2008 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was known by her loving family as "Mamma", "Mammaw", "Nanny", "Aunt Ed" and "My Buddy". God knew that each of us would need a warm and cheerful smile, a hand to do those special things that made our life more worthwhile. He gave her a very faithful, loving heart that was filled with tenderness, to help us with our problems and to share in each success. And that's why in His generous way, God blessed the world with mothers, and He made ours special and like no other! Mrs. Elliott retired from the Bossier Health Unit, Bossier City, LA. She was also employed at the Bossier General Hospital upon its opening and continued there for 8 years. Prior to that she worked for Graham's Hardware. After retiring she and her husband built a home in the Martin area to be near their family. She is a member of Holley Springs Southern Methodist Church and attended every Sunday until she was hospitalized two months ago. She was past president of the Holley Springs Woman's Missionary Society, and a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies were cooking for "the boys", fishing, working in her yard and keeping a clean house. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Billy Ray Elliott and her parents, Ernest and Ola Loftin. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara E. Dupree and husband, Melvin "Buntney" Dupree of Coushatta, LA; one son, Gary Elliott and wife, Jeannie of Coushatta, LA; three grandchildren, Randy Dupree and Richard Dupree both of Coushatta, LA and Jennifer Elliott Dupree of Bossier City, LA; four great-grandchildren, Kevin, Randa, Justin and Kaylee Dupree all of Coushatta, LA, Caroline and Catherine Dupree of Bossier City, LA; one great-great grandchild, Hollis Dupree; brother, Thomas Loftin; sister, Ernie Lavonnne Lambeth; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her church family. Also, to Shreveport/Bossier Hospice, those at Willis-Knighton LifeCare, especially her nurses, and those in Rehab.
