Coushatta Citizen   Jan. 20, 1998
      Funeral services for DR. RICHARD L. HANNA, 73, of Coushatta, were held 
at 2 p.m. Fridaym, Jan. 16, 1998 at the First Baptist Church in Coushatta, 
with the REV. DAVID HANNA, REV. BENNY ALFORD, and REV. BILLY BURGE 
officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
   DR. HANNA passed away Jan. 14, 1998. He was born Aug. 13, 1924. DR. HANNA 
was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy on the USS Lough 586. 
He moved to Coushatta in 1958 and began his private medical practice. He has 
served Red River Parish as Coroner from 1972 until his death.
   He was preceded in death by his parent; three brothers, and one son.
   Survivors include his wife, MARY "MIMI" HANNA of Coushatta; two sons, DAVID 
LEE HANNA and wife, WANDA, of Coushatta; STEPHEN RICHARD HANNA and wife, ANNA, 
of Coushatta; three step-children,VICKI POWELL and her husband, RICKEY of 
Coushatta; BILL NORRED and wife, SHERRY, of Mansfield; HOLLY OPPERMAN and 
husband, MIKE, of Coushatta; one brother, LLOYD HANNA of Dubach; three 
sisters, EDITH BARKAS of Minden; BARBARA FOWLER of Ruston; LETTIE BETH AULDS 
of Dubach; four grandchildren, ANGIE and WILLIAM JOHN HANNA, CELESTE and DAVID 
LEE HANNA; seven step-grandchildren, KATI and RICHARD WESTIN POWELL, CODY and 
BRITNI NORRED, MICHAEL, JR., MARY KAITLYN, and ALLEN JOSEPH OPPERMAN; three 
special friends: MARY HARPER, CHRISTY JOHNSON and JANELL THOMLEY.
   Pallbearers were Deacons of First Baptist Church and Hickory Grove Baptist 
Church.
   Honorary pallbearers were CLAUDE VEATCH, JAMES NETTLES, EUGENE SHAVER, STAN 
HORTON, JODIE LESTER, DOYLE GIDDINGS, MILTON FORREST and CREW MEMBERS OF USS 
LOUGH 586.
