VIRGIL LEE JILES, SR., 88, will be held Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Rose-Neath Chapel in Coushatta. Interment will follow in the Martin Cemetery in Martin. The family will receive vistors on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. MR. JILES was born in Jamestown, La. on Nov. 20, 1916, and died in Bossier City, La., on Oct 7, 2005, after a lengthy illness. A career soldier, MR. JILES served with the United States Army in the 4th Infantry Division during World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion. He later became an electronics technician with the Army and worked on missile and radar systems in New Mexico and Texas, obtaining the rank of CWO 2. He was a member of Martin Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday Scool teacher and a Deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, POMPY LEE and MARY LOU HERRINGTON JILES; A SISTER, flora jiles chandler; a brother, B. F. JILES and two infant siblings. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, ESTINE GIDDINGS JILES; two sons, VIIRGIL L. JILES JR. and wife, JOYCE of Williston, N. D., JAMES CURTIS JILES and wife, EFFIE of Plain Dealing, La.; one daughter, SUSAN JILES LINDANGER, and husband, EARL JR. of Shreveport; one grandson, CORY ALAN JILES and wife, KIM, all of Plain Dealing, La.; a brother-in-law, TOM CHANDLER of Arcadia and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Martin Baptist Church Building Fund or to the charity of one's choice.
