D. KENNINGTON, 81, of Coushatta, La., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at Holley Springs Cemetery. Officiating will be BROTHER TOMMY PATTON. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home in Coushatta. MR. KENNINGTON was born Nov. 11, 1926 in Methvin, and passed away June 25, 2008. He was a cotton broker with Anderson Clayton in the 50's before become an independent broker. MR. KENNINGTON was a cattleman and he raced thoroughbred horses. He was thrilled to see K.D.'S Valid Dreamer win the day before Father's Day. Throughout his lifetime he supported the 4-H program in Red River and Bossier Parishes. He most loved the weekends and holidays he spent cooking for his family and never wanting them to leave without getting enough. He was preceded in death by his parents, JOSHUA JAMES and ANNIE LEE KENNINGTON, the mother of his children, MARIE SHARPLING KENNINGTON; and his oldest grandson, KENNY D. KENNINGTON. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, JO EDITH MADDEN and husband, DON of Benton and nephew, JOE DON MADDEN of Bossier City; his children, KEN D. KENNINGTON of Dixie Inn, KAREN SASSER and husband, RONNIE of Alexandria, MIKE KENNINGTON and wife, ANN of Hall Summit, and JANICE CARLISLE and husband, DOYLE of Haughton; grandchildren, T. J. SASSER of Orlando, Fl., SHAWN SASSER of Atlanta, Ga., CODY, CASEY, CADIE and CLINT CARLISLE of Haughton, and ROBBIE SIMMONS, a young man whom he thought of as a grandson; and a special family friend, LINDA KILLEN. Pallbearers will be grandsons, T. J. SHAWN, CODY, CASEY, CLINT and ROBBIE.
