JOSEPH E. "RUNT" LOFTIN, 74, of Coushatta died Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Highland Hospital. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, a Woodman of the World, member and past Master of Holley Springs Lodge No. 247 F&AM., past Deputy Grand Master, Grand Representative to the Colorado Royal Arch Masons, a member of Holley Springs O.E.S. No. 206, dual member and past Worthy Patron of Hall Summit O.E.S. 109. MR. LOFTIN received a gold certificate of proficiency in Masonry and many degrees in the York Rite Body of Masonry. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the Holley Springs Southern Methodist Church with the REV. WILEY COLE and REV. McKEE WILLIAMS officiating. Burial was in Holley Springs Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife: OSALIE LOFTIN of Coushatta; two daughters, JEAN THOMAS and DOT PICKETT, both of Coushatta; two sisters, SYBIL JACKSON and AURELIA MORGAN, both of Coushatta; three brothers, C. C. LOFTIN of Logansport and MARION T. LOFTIN of Starkville, Miss.; seven grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were REX WOODARD, WARREN PERKINS, L. C. GORDON, MARION D. GIDDINGS, MICHAEL YOUNG, M. B. DUPREE, DOSEY OLDS and BOB WIMBERLY. His nephews were honorary pallbearers.
