NELSON, 44, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 28, 1999 at St. George Catholic church on Ashland Road in Coushatta, with the REV. LARRY NIEHOFF officiating and interment to follow in Liberty Cemetery. NELSON died unexpectedly Friday, June 25, due to complications from tumor surgery. He was a resident of South Carolina and a native of Coushatta, the oldest son of the newspaper family owners and publishers of the Coushatta CITIZEN from 1950 to 1980. TIM attended Coushatta High School and graduated from LSU with a degree in physical education and later received a Master's Degree in recreation management from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. For several years, he served as director and manager of the Cypress Creek YMCA in Houston, TX. He recently attended the Florida School of Massage and began a practice in sports and therapeutic massage in South Carolina. He was also employed with H & R Block. As an undergraduate, TIM spent his summer at the YMCA Camp in the Blue Ridge Moountains which inspired his career and interest in recreation and leisure activities. TIM is preceded in death by his sister, SUZANNAH NELSON DAVIS of Coushatta. He is survived by his parents, GORDON and EVELYN NELSON of Coushatta, LA.; a sister, DR. JULIE NELSON of Baton Rouge, LA.; a brother, KEVIN NELSON of Greenville, S.C.; and nieces and nephers, BRIAN, JILL, and BRAD DAVIS of Coushatta; CASS, KATE and JAKE NELSON-DOOLEY of Baton Rouge, and BRIDGET NELSON of South Carolina. Pallbearers will be KEVIN NELSON, BRIAN and BRAD DAVIS, MIKE DOOLEY and JAKE NELSON-DOOLEY, PATRICK NELSON, JASON BECKELHYMER, CHARLES WILSON and CAPT. RICKY EMERSON. Memorials may be made to St. George Building Fund and St. Jude Hospital of Memphis, or of choice. Services were under the direction of Rockett-Nettle Funeral Home of Coushatta.
