The Coushatta Citizen   April 27, 1993
   ARA MORGAN THOMAS, 81, of Coushatta were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 
1993, in the Martin Baptist Church with the REV. WILEY CHARLES COLE, and the 
REV. WAYNE SANDERS officiating. Burial was in Holley Springs Cemetery.
   MRS. THOMAS passed away Friday, April 23, 1993, at HCA Highland Hospital in 
Shreveport after a short illness. She was born in Red River Parish, where she 
was a life-long resident, a housewife and a member of the Martin Baptist 
church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, JOHN HOUSTON JOWERS, 
and second husband, DECIE THOMAS, and a granddaughter, LINDA DIANE STEPHENS.
   Survivors include one son, MAXIE JOWERS of Minden; four daughters, DORIS 
CHANDLER of Sibley; LINDA LOFTIN of Natchez, Ms., CAROLYN RUSSELL of 
Pennsylvania and KAOY THOMAS BROWING of Natchez, Ms.' one sister, ELLIE 
KITCHINGS of Martin, La.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
   Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta.
