DR. WILLIAM ALSTON BOYLSTON, a native of Spartanburg, S. C., opened his 
medical practice in Coushatta in 1871. He studied medicine under DR. J. C. 
EGAN at Mount Lebanon University, and received his medical degrees from the 
Universities of Virginia and Maryland in 1870. He practiced in Coushatta for 
more than 50 years. He also was President of Bank of Coushatta, and served for 
20 years for treasurer of the Masonic Lodge. He was a resident in Coushatta 
for 64 years, until his death in 1926.
